Mimi Smith

Mimi joined the Portland office of KBF as the Director of Employee Benefit Plan Services in January 2010. Prior to joining KBF, Mimi was a director with KPMG LLP, managing the Portland office Employee Benefit Plan practice serving clients in a variety of industries located in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

Mimi has over 25 years of experience with employee benefit plan accounting, auditing and compliance issues. She has worked with a diverse group of employee benefit plans including 401(k), 403(b), money purchase, defined benefit and health and welfare plans, as well as the Form 11-k filing requirements with the SEC. As the Director of KBF’s Employee Benefit Plan practice, Mimi is responsible for overseeing and designing our audit methodology and procedures and providing our employee benefit plan training. Mimi continually attends local and national training, including the AICPA National Employee Benefit Plan Conference, to stay current with IRS, ERISA and DOL regulations.

Prior to moving to Portland, Mimi served as a trust officer for the Trust Company of Oklahoma, the largest privately owned trust company in the state of Oklahoma. Her responsibilities included plan design and administration, resolution of compliance and operational issues, and annual compliance testing and reporting to the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor.
