2024 KBF Director Promotions

We are pleased to announce the promotions of Emily Anderson, Alex Poe, Shannon Tran, and Ryan Wang.

 

 Emily Anderson

Emily is an experienced tax professional with over 15 years of public accounting experience. Her focus on emerging growth and venture-backed companies, particularly in Software as a Service (SaaS) and pre-public Bio Pharma sectors, provides a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within these industries. Her diverse client base, ranging from start-ups to multinational corporations, underscores her adaptability and ability to cater to the needs of a wide range of businesses. Emily focuses on income tax accounting assistance, tax compliance, and tax consulting on federal, state, and international matters. Emily is highly engaged in the firm’s leadership and training initiatives.

 

Prior to joining KBF in 2012, Emily spent 3 years with EY in the Denver office.

 

Alex Poe

Alex is passionate about building relationships. He offers customized solutions on strategic tax decision making, tax compliance, estate and multigenerational planning, liquidity, and exit planning. Alex supports a wide range of clients, from small business owners to high-net-worth individuals. By combining his 15-plus years of in-depth public accounting experience with his personable communication skills, Alex translates complex tax scenarios and offers tax education paired with expertise.

Prior to working with KBF, Alex gained an international tax perspective within KPMG’s Global Mobility Services where he focused on foreign national and expat tax.

 

Shannon Tran

Shannon leads the sales and use tax compliance group. The services she offers include assisting clients in selecting a sales tax API, such as AvaTax, TaxJar, or Vertex, mapping of products to the API, implementation of the API, and ongoing sales and use tax compliance. She also routinely assists clients with multistate sales and use tax matters in the areas of nexus, taxability analysis, refund requests, letter rulings, audits and appeals, sales tax registration, and voluntary disclosures. She has a broad range of state and local tax experience in the following industries: software and technology, life sciences, professional services, construction, and manufacturing and consumer products. Additionally, Shannon’s dedication to building out the sales tax compliance group has made a significant impact within our organization.

 

Ryan Wang

Ryan is a seasoned professional with more than a decade of public accounting experience catering to both public and private clients across diverse industries. His client portfolio spans the spectrum, from emerging growth startups to multinational corporations, showcasing a proven track record of delivering tailored, comprehensive tax solutions for each unique client need. 

 

Ryan focuses in guiding emerging growth companies through every stage of their development, from inception to successful exit events. His strategic insights and hands-on approach establish him as an invaluable partner. His commitment to navigating the complexities of growth ensures financial success for businesses, making him a trusted advisor in the ever-evolving landscape of taxation.  

 

At the core of Ryan’s experience lies a commitment to providing comprehensive services. From tax accrual calculation (ASC 740) to tax compliance, federal and state audit defense, mergers and acquisitions consultations, accounting method planning, and various tax consulting assistance, he ensures that clients receive unparalleled support across federal, state, and international tax matters. 

 

Based in Guangzhou, China, Ryan offers on-the-ground tax advisory services, guiding clients from the Greater China and APAC region through the intricacies of U.S. tax. Additionally, he oversees operations at the KBF Philippines office. 

 

Prior to joining KBF, Ryan was with EY’s tax practice in Las Vegas.
